It doesn't matter that HigeHiro is ugly. It doesn't matter that it constantly changes focus between unrelated stories like a cheap fanfiction. And when it tries to tackle societal issues which are supposed to be the main beat and does a terrible job, it also does not matter. None of it matters when you wanna be dramatic about a character's life situation at the same time you use that character as a sexual object. Yoshida is at the same time a bastion of moral in a sea of scumbags, but at the same time he is put in situations with loads of sexual tension, becase although Yoshida might be a nice guy, his writers, and by consequence his viewers, are not. HigeHiro is an atrocity. If you are horny enough to not be bothered by the offensive fanservice, you won't care about the drama. If you are sober enough to care about the drama, the fanservice will offend you. There is no way out. Even at the end, after a couple episodes of more serious talk, it has to go back to its origins and give a cheap fanservice scene that is so tone deaf it should be used as an example of hipocrisy in writing. Higehiro wants to talk about its cake having ptsd and eat it too. And that just doesn't work.
